Exploring PRP for Hair and Facial Rejuvenation
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. Plasma is a component of our blood which contains platelets. These platelets contain growth factors that serve several regenerative purposes, aiding in hair growth on your scalp and facial rejuvenation. PRP can be a transformative treatment that allows you restore your hair and confidence.
The patients who benefit from PRP injections are typically in their early thirties, and the best time to start your treatment is when your hair begins to thin or your hairline starts receding. Patients should ideally undergo 4 - 6 PRP sessions at intervals of 4-6 weeks, combined with other topical formulations for their hair loss. Maintenance treatments should be continued thereafter.
Are PRP injections painful?
Not usually. Patients may also use topical numbing creams 30 mins prior to the procedure.
What is the downtime with PRP?
Some patients may experience mild soreness and bruising at the injection site. Otherwise, there is no downtime with PRP.
How many months does PRP last?
Many studies have shown that PRP lasts 6-9 months.
